Guest Post: Animal Prints in Fashion

Every time I go shopping and see animal prints, I can’t help but smile. I love the look of leopard, tiger, and cheetah designs in fashion (obviously all faux).  

My novel, The Shapeshifter’s Secret, is about werecats, which are humans that can shapeshift into lions, tigers, cheetahs and leopards. I’ve always loved big cats, and that has definitely influenced by writing. Because I spend so much time writing about these beautiful creatures, it shouldn’t be a surprise that I love animal prints in fashion.

When I think of cheetah, tiger, or leopard prints I think of bold, versatile, and youthful. Dresses, shirts, sunglasses, or shoes will always have that exotic appearance because the prints are so bright and eye catching.  

Wearing animal prints is a great way to show off your fun, edgy, and wild side too. It sparks ideas of adventure and is a great head turner.

I also like the fact that cheetah, tiger, and leopard prints are so versatile. You can accent your neutral colored outfit with a cheetah print scarf, or you can wear a tiger striped dress to complete a bolder ensemble. And there are so many different styles of print, small or large, lighter or darker, natural or neon colored.

We see a lot of celebrities in animal prints. Beyonce, Sofia Vergara, and Katie Holmes are just a few to name.  

One great thing about leopard, tiger, and cheetah prints is that their popularity may vary, but the look always returns looking fresh, exotic, and stunning.

Heather Ostler grew up near the mountains with a rambunctiously entertaining family. She majored in English at Utah Valley University, and soon began composing stories about masquerades, water nymphs, and shapeshifters.
