A Sew Happy Work Space

I finally stopped procrastinating and got around to unpacking my sewing & art room.  Now I'm really to embark on new projects.  Look out Baltimore....here I come!

Here's my little space of happiness:

I still have no place to set up my Yudu screen printer, but I'm thinking about leaving it in the box and taking it out as needed.  I also need a foldable cutting table.  Cutting on the floor sucks. Hummm time to go shopping.

   

Who you calling Trashy?!?!?!

I was strolling downtown Baltimore and came across this:

 

The sign called it the 2012 annual Trashy Fashion Show and apparently these stunning garments are created using all recyclables. 

 

This gives new meaning to my saying

"I'd rather wear a burlap sack".

I must say, I'm inspired. 

Client Mock Up: ME #1

Okay so I need something Kindred Dreamheart to wear to an event that will debut my first men's suit.

Here's my inspiration and progress:

Thanks to Uncle Sam and genetics I have an athletic build, so the best silhouette for my body type and the formality of this event is a classic wiggle dress w/ pearls. Oh and because of my youth, I'll use denim to avoid looking too old.  To play on today's trend, I will wear the snake skin pumps. 

I hope to have this completed by Monday evening.  The show is on Friday, and my husband has requested I make him a suit coat.  I'll update you later.

Client Mock Up: Hair Show # 5

Okay, the jacket is 90% complete.  I only need to place and stitch down the shoulder boards and the zipper.  In fact, I'm thinking of doing that on site to ensure the best possible tailored fit.  I think I'll look into rental space so I can bring my sewing machine along and have a functioning area.

I plan to complete the alterations and sew the waistband on the trousers on Thursday and Friday.

After that, all that will be left is top stiching and pressing.

Client Mock Up: Hair Show #4

Hey all:

I know I'm a little behind on this project.  I had hoped to be completed this weekend finalizing with alterations.  All you twitter followers know I was a bit under the weather.  I'm feeling much better now and playing catch up.  I anticipate an all nighter or two, but anticipate having this completed NLT Next Sunday.  Yay!  Anywho here's some pic updates:

This is just gorgeous when the light hits it!

Thomas was so awesome to give this male mannequin.  Whether it was a loan or a keeper; he had a little cosmetic damage (not fully pictured).

 But have no fear I repaired him.

I stuffed his burn, sealed with fabric glue and muslin and made him a new cover.

Oh yeah I got a new sewing machine to add to my collection of four.

It's so awesome!  It embroiders, serges, and sews.

I'll post more updates later this week.
