If you think high school is bad thank your lucky stars you name isn't Nick.

His mom is a stripper whose family disowned her because of Nick's birth, his father is in jail for multiple murders. He's a scholarship teen attending a snobbish prestigious high school with privileged children who tease him daily. One day his so called hoodlum friends turn on him and after almost losing his life his world turns into a freak show. This book is packed with zombie and forces of good and evil with Nick in the middle. This is one thrill ride you do not want to miss.

Nick was a sarcastic, intelligent, and strong willed leading male. He was very liable. The junior romance was adorable and not over the top. The action was nonstop. The supporting characters were just as charismatic and kept me wanting to see more of them. Anyone of them could easily support spin offs solo.

In spite of this being a middle grade book, I enjoyed it. The reader's Louisiana accent was believable. I was looking for any opportunity to stall in my vehicle to hear more minutes of this audio book!
