Great New Review for Persephone Cole and the Halloween Curse by Heather Haven

"I enjoyed reading Persephone Cole and the Halloween Curse. Percy is a great character, and I found myself smiling and laughing at her antics throughout the story. Anyone looking for a fun, fast read should certainly give this book a try. I know I’ll be on the lookout for more about Percy and her adventures." ~ 3 1/2 out of 4 Stars, Poinsettia, Long and Short Reviews

Persephone Cole and The Halloween Curse

In 1942, no one heard of a female PI, not even in New York City. But meet Persephone (Percy) Cole, newly inaugurated private investigator, with a penchant for Marlene Dietrich suits, pistachio nuts and fedora hats.

Halloween finds her backstage during the previews of the latest Broadway production of Shakespeare’s Macbeth where there’s double, double, toil and trouble. When an actor falls from the overhead catwalk and breaks his neck, Percy is hired to save the show. But casting a spell over the grand old Royal Theatre are more people with secrets than you can shake a witch’s broom at. Putting aside deadly daggers, threatening letters, and falling set pieces, the cast of characters include a company of devious actors, a double-dealing producer, a duplicitous director, a deceitful star, and dead bodies aplenty, enough to fill a witch’s cauldron.

Armed with her noodle and a WWI German Mauser pistol, this working mother is not sure which is worse, being foisted into acting the role of Witch Number Two, her son’s jack-o’-lantern being snitched, or someone trying to kill her. It has not been a good day.

"If you like to take a chance on a book, you won't be disappointed with this one. I am looking forward to reading her next book about Persephone Cole" ~ 5 Stars, Beverly Langlois, Amazon Reader and Verified Purchase

Great New Reviews of Persephone Cole and the Christmas Killings Conundrum by Heather Haven

"I enjoy stories set in the past and Heather Haven's did not disappoint with her well researched setting in history. The main character Persephone Cole was likeable and well rounded. I was drawn into her plight to find a murderer and clear an innocent woman's name from the first page. The plot was easy to follow but complicated enough to keep the reader's attention throughout. I found 'Christmas Conundrum' entertaining and engaging. Definitely a 5 star read for young adults and adults!" ~ Killarney Sheffield

"The first chapter of Persephone Cole and the Christmas Killings Conundrum was sent to me by author Heather Haven. This is a Books We Love holiday mystery.

KEEP READING? You betcha. In this first chapter, Haven manages to create a cast of characters you immediately connect with and care about: from Percy a street-smart, sarcastic dame with a penchant for Marlene Dietrich-style pant suits and pistachios to her boy-crazy younger sister Serendipity to her daffy mother and more. I don't always like so many characters introduced right away, but Haven did a fine job of giving them just enough interaction that the reader isn't confused.

I am eager to see how this mystery plays out. Haven's style of humorous private eye stories continues with this latest endeavor. And I love it!" ~ Cheryl Malandrinos, The Book Connection, First Chapter Reviews

A Cop in the Family series in one complete volume:

Jamie Hill
Triple Threat

Family Secrets
As if stumbling over a dead body isn't enough, Crystal Cartwright finds herself playing surrogate mother to two small boys when their father--her neighbor--doesn't come home. The kids aren't much trouble, but the thieves, drug dealers and kidnappers they're about to encounter are.

Detective Jack Dunlevy, a cop down on his luck, draws the cases no one else wants. A simple investigation involving a dead homeless man quickly changes as Crystal enlists Jack's help with the children. Drawn into a mystery that none of them could have anticipated, they're faced with a situation that will change their lives forever.

Family Ties
With a couple of dead bodies thrown in, Detective Brady Marshall's stolen goods case has just become a lot more interesting. His love life takes a turn for the better when he meets Gina Morris, a feisty waitress at the club where the latest victim has surfaced. A happily unattached ladies' man, Brady isn't looking to settle down. But after meeting the beautiful Italian spitfire, his thoughts are shifting in that direction.

Gina Morris doesn't date cops. Until she meets Brady, that is, and gets won over by his dogged persistence and winning smile. With things in her past that are best left unspoken, Gina hesitates to get too close, but can't resist the handsome detective's charm. When his case runs smack dab into her past life, both of them are forced to make choices they never dreamed possible in an attempt to salvage their relationship, and possibly even save their lives.

Family Honor
Bodies of dead women are piling up and Detective Melanie Curtis is doing everything she can to solve the 'Cheerleader Slasher' case. Surprised to discover her chief has requested help from the FBI, she's even more shocked when she meets the sexy FBI special agent sent to assist her.

SSA Nate Willis tracks serial killers for a living. The slasher case is a challenge, but nothing compared to the feisty police detective he finds leading the investigation. Their attraction is swift and mutual, but the killer is escalating and they need to solve the case before they can focus on their personal relationship. When the unthinkable happens and the investigation is turned upside down, is their chance for happiness also in jeopardy?

“Author Jamie Hill has a knack for pulling a reader deeper and deeper into her stories as they try to figure out where she is leading them.” ~ Tammy, Fallen Angel Reviews

Gifts from the Grandmothers: The Wisdomkeeper Collection by John Makowski

It is traditional for First Nation’s people to give thanks, and acknowledge our relationship, to the plants, animals, birds and creatures from the water, to show respect for their giving their spirits in order for others to survive. Traditionally elders say prayers to commemorate this sacrifice at a feast gathering.

During these gatherings the people share their recipes and often demonstrate the preparation and cooking of food. Elders would pass on ancient food gathering and preparation guides to the younger members of the tribe.

Because of this tradition of passing on the wisdom of the tribe from generation to generation, First Nation’s people became increasingly skilled in the art of drying and preparing foods, herbs and berries with each passing generation. The Medicine men and women of the tribes were gifted healers trained by generations of ancestors in the art of using the gifts of Mother Earth to heal the people of their tribes. The recipes in this collection were shared with me by Grandmothers from many cultural backgrounds.

About The Author
Jamie Hill was born and raised in a beautiful, mid-sized town in Midwest, USA. At various times she wanted to be a veterinarian, teacher, cheerleader, TV star or a famous singer. The one thing she always wanted to be was a writer. Starting at about age ten, she penned romance as she envisioned it in one spiral notebook after another.
When she’s not working at the day job she loves, Jamie enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and watching movies (the scarier the better!) In her ‘spare time’ she can often be found writing, editing, or doing something more mundane like housework. After that, she’s probably taking a nap. She loves to hear from readers, so feel free to drop her a line.

Kelly McWinter P.I. series by Jude Pittman

Deadly Secrets, Book 1

Welcome to the world of Kelly McWinter, where you'll meet some of the most amazing characters to ever grace the pages of fiction. Kelly, a retired cop who has sought out a simpler life in Indian Creek while trying to put a personal tragedy behind him. Kelly's dog, Jake, a German Shepherd who has fought some battles of his own and is still the best partner a man could ever hope for. Anna Davis, an old woman hiding from her past whose secrets come back to haunt her.

"DEADLY SECRETS has enough bends and splinters to throw a reader into a quandary trying to figure out who is the guilty party. It was certainly a surprise to me. Jude Pittman has created a taut, sad, well-written story that keeps everyone guessing. She has a style suited to telling suspense stories. If you are in the mood for a whodunit, I recommend DEADLY SECRETS." ~ Romance Reviews Today

"This story held my interest from the start. There is good character development. As the story progresses the reader can visualize Kelly and who he is and how he fits into this small Texas community. There are no clues that point to the killer and even as the reader moves on to the conclusion there is still the question of which one did it. Highly recommended to any mystery fan." ~ Frances, Amazon Reader and Verified Purchase

Deadly Betrayal, Book 2

A fabulous mixture of Texas humor, heart-pounding action, sexy nuances and mounting suspense. There's plenty of excitement, plenty of intrigue, a local flavor to tickle the toughest of taste buds and a good serving of hot, steamy romance to titillate the senses. The second of Jude's Kelly McWinter P.I. mysteries reads like a locomotive with non-stop action from beginning to end.

When Stella's niece Mikki calls with news that she is expecting a baby by a married man who Stella considers a self-centered jerk things seemed bad enough. But when the "jerk" turns up dead after denying any responsibility for the baby and insisting that Mikki get an abortion, things get worse in a hurry.

Stella turns to Kelly McWinter to set things right but he soon discovers a tangled web of secrets and lies that threaten a young woman's freedom and put friendships to the test. Deadly Betrayal is a riveting tale of greed, deception and murder served up with a generous helping of hot, steamy romance

Deadly Betrayal is a totally engrossing, can't-put-it down story that draws you in and won't let you go. A bit of romance and love also creeps into the riveting storyline, giving it a wholesome feel. Ms. Atkins ties up all the loose ends quite neatly and ends the novel on solid footing. She leaves the reader anticipating more in the Texas series. All in all, an excellent read!

Deadly Consequences, Book 3

Kelly McWinter is called into action when a dead stable hand turns up at Lake Country Riding Academy. He's happy to help Gus, his friend in the local P.D., and even happier to get close to Lake Country's beautiful owner, Gillian. When the investigation takes a turn none of them could have expected, it's going to take all their wits to keep anyone else from being killed.
